Overcoming Challenges

The month of February 2020, we faced various challenges in ministry. We realized all of life’s daily challenges are a new opportunity to see His hand over our lives. Most of us fail to see how God wants to use problems for good in our lives. We react quickly and foolishly rather than pausing to consider what benefit they might bring. Throughout the month, we remembered God is with us and he has not forgotten us.

An Unusual Celebration of a deity

The village where we work with children (Little Transformers Club); celebrated a local village festival where thousands of devotees from the other villages converge on the day of Maha Shivratri to worship the deity (goddesses). The festival is organized for 10 days.

The festival is particularly known for its very intriguing body accessorization. The act is called ‘Kaliakam’, where kids, men and women paint their faces and adorn outfits that replicate the goddess. Devotees pierce lemons on their chest, knifes in their mouth, they walk on hot fire coal, pull carts with a pierced skin as a gesture to show devotion to their goddess.

Some devotees even go to the extent of visiting the local graveyard and dig the graves for human bones; where they parade and dance with the unearthed human bones in their mouth.

As we witnessed this for the first time and we were completely broken by seeing the heinous tradition and beliefs of the local villagers. Most of the devotees are the parents of our LH children.

It is important that we overcome this challenge and we knew it can be done to only through prayer. The following day, we as a team prayed for the village that the Lord should open their eyes and they should see our loving God through our Little Transformers Club.

Our Little Transformers Club Space: Still the construction work has not resumed due to the lack of funds. We have completed 45% of work, we are yet to finish flooring, plastering, Electrical and Plumbing work, Windows and Doors and Painting. We believe the Lord will help us to start and complete the work in the following month. Continue to pray for God’s providence and it will complete soon for us to use it.

Club Session - Classes 4 - 7
Board Exams: Some of our older children are in the process of writing their board/final exams of this academic year. Even our volunteers who help in teaching our children are writing their final exams in the college. They are studying hard every day for the exams. Continue to pray for God’s wisdom to score good marks.

Volunteers Outing
Volunteer Outing: We took our volunteers for a day out and had great sharing time. The get-together helped us to understand more closely each other and blessed them.

Need Healing: One of our LH Club child Sri Megan (10 years) is hospitalized with salt in his blood. His face and legs are swollen and is completely under the supervision of the doctors. He is part of our Sunday School as well. His parents are daily laborers and are struggling to meet the treatment needs.

Pray and Support Us!

We know the journey is not going to be easy, we need people who can volunteer and they are resourceful for our kids.

Pray for wisdom and strength for both of us; that God would help us to envision the journey and walk boldly towards it.

Hanni & Jeba
