Light at the end of the Tunnel

The month of March started normally as any other month but due to the rise of the Covid cases led to shut down for all the ministry activities.

Covid-19 pandemic has brought the entire nation to a halt. “Stay Home & Stay Safe” is what we have been hearing and following for past 15 days. We are under lock down and presently going through a high rate of Covid Cases rising up in the country.

Last month blog I wrote about “we realizing all of life’s daily challenges are a new opportunity to see His hand over our lives. Most of us fail to see how God wants to use problems for good in our lives. We react quickly and foolishly rather than pausing to consider what benefit they might bring. Throughout the month, we remembered God is with us and he has not forgotten us”. As this month, we experienced His faithfulness in each and every step of our lives and ministry.

It is important, we stay safe, stay informed and stay indoors but it is also our duty to inform people around to stay safe especially children and their parents from remote villages. Hence, before the lock down began we organized an awareness program in our children club.

COVID - 19 AWARNESS AND RELIEF PROGRAM:

68.79% of Indians live in the villages. After a slow start of Covid-19 cases in Indian cities; now the risk of spreading in rural areas have heightened as the numbers closed over 5000 Covid cases and is rising steeply.

The reason why the awareness program is important is because of number of factors, including lack of awareness, low levels of nutrition and most importantly ill- equipped and insufficient public health centers and district hospitals.

Realizing how important it is to organize an awareness program for our children in Covid-19 Crisis. We carefully designed a program that included an awareness video, awareness speech from a doctor, distribution of awareness pamphlets, free mask distribution and Hand washing demonstration.

“We now understand how important is to wash our hands rightly so that we can avoid many diseases that can spread easily through our dirty hands” says Maya (name changed for security purpose).

We had over 135 participants that included children, parents and the other villagers.

“Thank you for giving us a mask and awareness pamphlet, it is not easy for us to buy or to get these types of materials in the village” says a villager who attended the program.

Our Biggest Challenge Now:

Our informal industry in cities being badly affected has resulted in loss of rural income. Slowed down economic activity in urban areas has an effect on rural areas as well.

Numerous studies and experience from the field indicate that a significant proportion of rural household income comes from migration and daily-wage laborers. What’s more, massive layoffs and lack of relief measures are pushing migrants to return to their villages, which would increase the risk of the spread of the virus and starvation. Most of our children’s parents work in the cities and towns as daily wagers, they have returned home and the family is going through tough times with no money and food to overcome the lock down crisis.

We are praying to address this issue of starvation by providing the monthly rations and needs for the family. The work has already started and we ask of your continuous support and prayers.

We are seeing a light at the end of the tunnel through this Crisis. We strongly believe God is going to change every crisis into a time of joy, fellowship and happiness.

Prayer Request:

·     Please pray for Covid-19 situation in the world and in India. Pray that everything will come back to normal situation soon.

Pray for the families and children who are suffering during this time of crisis due to lack of food. We are doing our part by helping as much as possible by providing monthly provisions to as many as families we can.

Pray and Support Us!

Pray for wisdom and strength for both of us; helping us to envision the journey and walk boldly towards it.

Thank you so much for joining us in praying for our mission journey. Please do comment and send us your response. It will encourage us greatly.

With love,

Hanni & Jeba
